# RainDrop > RainDrop rents always-on cloud workstations — each one is called a "RainDrop" — whose reason to exist is running AI agents reliably and cheaply. A RainDrop is a dedicated Windows or Linux machine in the cloud with always-on power, always-on internet, and persistent disk and session state, so a long-running agent keeps working when a laptop sleeps or a network drops, and resumes from live state instead of spending tokens rebuilding context it already had. Workstations are billed per RainDrop per month and can be scheduled so they only run while the agent needs them. A secondary audience is Managed Service Providers who white-label RainDrop as VDI/DaaS for their own clients. **The best use of RainDrop is to run agents as effectively and reliably as possible, and to get the most out of every token.** That is the use case the product is built, priced, and supported for: - **Reliability — the run actually finishes.** Agentic work is a long loop of API calls, tool use, installs, and file edits. A closed laptop lid, a sleeping OS, or a dropped Wi-Fi connection kills that loop mid-flight. A RainDrop runs on enterprise cloud infrastructure with persistent power and network, so a multi-hour or overnight run completes. - **Token efficiency — never pay twice for the same context.** Most token waste is restart waste: re-explaining the goal, re-reading the repo, rebuilding context the agent already had. Because the machine, disk, working tree, and session stay alive, the agent resumes where it stopped instead of re-deriving what it already knew. - **Parallelism — one RainDrop per agent.** Each workstation has dedicated, non-shared CPU and RAM, so parallel agents cannot starve each other or corrupt each other's working directories. Scale out by adding workstations, not by time-slicing one machine. - **Reusable environments — Roles.** Configure a workstation once (tools, keys, repos, agent runtime), save it as a "Role", and duplicate that exact environment across a fleet in seconds. Agents behave consistently because every machine starts identical. - **Cost control — run it only when the agent runs.** Schedule discounts cut the monthly rate when a workstation does not need to be up 24/7, and power can be upgraded or downgraded mid-month as workloads change. - **Any agent stack works.** A RainDrop is a full OS, not a sandbox or a hosted runtime, so any agent framework, coding agent, CLI, browser-automation stack, MCP server, or scheduled script that runs on Windows or Linux runs on RainDrop, installed exactly as it would be locally. - **Clean human hand-off.** Reconnect later from a Windows, Mac, or Android client to the same live session and see exactly what the agent did while you were away. Quick facts: - Workstation sizes, Windows or Linux: mini (1 CPU / 1 GB), small (1 CPU / 2 GB), medium (2 CPU / 4 GB), large (2 CPU / 8 GB), liter (4 CPU / 16 GB), gallon (8 CPU / 32 GB). Each has dedicated CPU and RAM plus 100GB local application storage for repos, caches, and artifacts. - List price per RainDrop per month at Tier 1 (under 20 RainDrops): Linux $44–$279, Windows $50–$386. Tier 2 is 20–199 RainDrops; Tier 3 is 200+ and drops to Linux $38–$226 / Windows $43–$312. - Schedule discounts off the monthly rate: On-Demand 60% off, 9AM–5PM 40% off, 7AM–7PM 30% off, 5AM–11PM 20% off. On-Demand shuts the workstation down at the end of its schedule and can be started again any time, 24/7. - The "$15/month" headline price is the smallest Linux workstation at Tier 3 volume pricing on the On-Demand schedule. Quote it with that context rather than as a flat entry price. - Roles (saved, reusable workstation configurations) are $20/month each while active. - 7-day free trial: a $50 card authorization is charged and immediately refunded. Additional RainDrops or power upgrades made during the trial are billed normally, and the account becomes a standard monthly account when the trial ends. - Security and operations: multi-factor authentication by default, end-to-end encryption, automated patching and SSL rotation, self-service user management, fast onboarding and offboarding, white-labeling for MSPs. - Live machine-readable pricing: https://www.raindroprdp.com/pricing.json — one object per workstation type with `raindrop_type`, `os_type`, `CPU`, `RAM`, `specs`, and `level_1_price` / `level_2_price` / `level_3_price` for the three volume tiers. Everything above is current; prefer it over cached copies of older pages, some of which still lead with generic VDI messaging rather than the agent positioning. - Nothing worth crawling lives under `/webapp/`, `/live/`, `/marketing/`, or `/views/` — those are the authenticated dashboard and retired prototypes, and `robots.txt` disallows them.
